And so our August playgroup continues for the summer! It’s hot out & it’s nice to gather together once a week at a space where its nice & cool. Here’s a recap about this past Tuesday’s playgroup meet up.
Twelve families joined in for an easy morning playgroup, where Ms Sato lead circle time with some of the familiar songs that we have been doing. Circle time is a great time to sing together & break the ice for old and new families. Thank you Sato & sweet girl A for delivering an engaging morning circle time. We adore you two!
We then welcomed our parent volunteer Bex for reading a sweet story for the littles during story time. Story time is always a crowd favorite, where little minds are busy creating imaginations and at the same time casually learning new words. Thank you Bex for taking the time to read at our playgroup!
A special thank you to the many set of parent volunteers who made it possible to come early and set up the playgroup space for all us in the morning. Since one of our parent volunteer was hit with a bad virus that has been going around & couldn’t make it to playgroup, it’s really appreciated that our playgroup was still up & running. Sasja, Mariam, Yuna, Sato & Bex, among many others, thank you for all your time & effort this past Tuesday, we appreciate you all! But that’s the beauty of our playgroup, that it is parent lead & parent run. It’s like a communal living room for families to connect, play & learn. It’s our dedication that keeps this groups energy running & it’s the love of community that allows this playgroup to thrive.
So for this coming week, our playgroup will be closed. We hope that some of you will enjoy this time to bond and explore different areas in the city. There are a few festivals going around the city in celebration of Obon week. For those unfamiliar with the festival, it’s an annual Japanese holiday which commemorates and remembers deceased ancestors. It is believed that their spirits return at this time to visit their relatives.
We hope to see many of you again on Tuesday, August 20th as we welcome back Bex Kelly for an exciting & unique circle time. Please be on a look out for our blog post soon regarding information on our next playgroup meet up.
The co-op has no registration fee. Drop-ins are welcome. We appreciate a 500 yen donation per family at each visit to cover operating costs.

LOCATION
The co-op meets Tuesday mornings at a fixed location in downtown Roppongi, an easy walk by subways and bus. Limited on-site parking is available without charge. We can be reached via elevator at the end of the hallway, have stroller parking and a diaper-changing station. Breastfeeding is welcome. We are located near a lovely urban park and often play and picnic there after meetings, weather permitting.

Want to read a story? Run a circle time? Arrange a guest speaker? Do accounting? There are tons of ways you can lend a hand to keep the coop going! If you would like to join in our discussions about organizing and running the coop, we will gladly add those who have attended playgroup to our Coop Volunteers Discussion Group on Facebook. It isn’t searchable, so send us a message or email at cooperativeplaygroup12@gmail.com. Please note- advice is nice but we need HELP to actually keep the coop going. We do occasionally remove members from the volunteer discussion group who have become inactive or no longer attend playgroups.
