RECAP! Hinokicho Park Outdoor Circle Time with Mom In Balance (2019)

April 23, 2019

We had a perfect weather outside this morning for our playgroup meet up at Hinokicho Park behind Tokyo Midtown.

Today we had about 13 families join us, a few of which were new attendees. Welcome!

Ms Sato along with her adorable daughter joined us this morning & together they led circle time! Circle time songs that we sang are; Hello!, One Little Finger, and an a cappella “Row Row Row Your Boat” song accompanied with mommy & me gestures! Thank you Sato for leading our fun circle time today.

The Playlist

1. “Everybody Have a Seat”

Let’s settle in and get ready to start circle time!

2. “Hello”

Sing and gesture along to our welcome song!

3. “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”

Invite your child onto your lap and row down the stream together!

4. “Ong Tal Sam/ Little Spring”

It’s feeling like spring! Let’s imagine we are a little bunny waking after a long winter nap.

5. “Bunny Hop”

Speaking of bunnies, let’s do some hopping for those who celebrate Easter.

6. “These Are My Glasses”

Let’s get ready for a story!

7. “I Wish I Were a Pilot”

Use your imagination. What do you wish to try?

8. “The Airplane Song”

Well, let’s give it a try then! Stand up and gesture along.

9. “See You Later, Alligator”

Thanks for joining us!

Ms Katie then followed up with story time & read a book titled “I Wish I Were A Pilot” written by Stella Blackstone. It was a lovely picture book that introduced different forms of transportation. Thank you Katie for reading for us and for leading morning announcements.

Soon after, we welcomed our guest speaker Julie Mangen from Mom in Balance Tokyo. Julie started off a brief introduction about what Mom in Balance is and what they do. She also mentioned that they meet at multiple locations all over Tokyo & Yokohama. Mom in Balance also uses CareFinder services should attending moms want babysitting for their kids. Our group also got a good information about the benefits of working out pre & post labor. Julie also talked about Diastasis Recti which is a condition of the abdominal muscles that can occur after pregnancy. She mentioned some careful exercises that we can do, for example kegel workouts, which we can practice at home. We then got a taste of a workout routine using resistance bands. Thank you Julie for speaking at our playgroup this morning and giving us moms a good but brief workout. It was a lot of fun!

We hope you enjoyed our day outside today & we look forward to seeing you all back at our usual meeting place next Tuesday at the FCC.
